The law concerning wills is contained in the Wills Act 1936 . Many of the legal terms used in this topic are explained in LEGAL TERMS. The terms 'executor' or 'executrix' refer to either the male or female person, respectively, appointed in a will to deal with an estate. In this topic both will be referred to as an executor. Similarly the terms 'administrator' or 'administratrix' are used referring to the male or female person, respectively, appointed by the court to deal with the estate of a person who dies without having made a valid will (in this topic both will be referred to as an administrator). A testator (testatrix for female) is a person who has made a will.
